Your Greater Need

When doing fundraising for your ministry, it's easy to believe that what you really need is money. That's understandable. You are doing fundraising, after all. But readers of this blog also know that there's more to it than that.
And [Jesus] said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you." (Luke 12:22-31 ESV)
Life is more than food. The body is more than clothing. And fundraising is more than money.

Yes, you need food. Yes, you need clothing. Yes, you need to raise funds. But you need Jesus more. Through being underfed, under-clothed and under-funded, Jesus will give you more and more of what you really need: Himself.

He won't do it because you've earned it. Nor because you even wanted it. Rather, He'll give you Himself because He loves you way too much to give you anything less.

Your Father knows that you need the funds. And He'll provide exactly what you need exactly when you need it, just as He always has. But God is very, very good about getting His priorities straight, and He's very, very patient about getting yours straight, too.

So the next time someone asks you how your fundraising is doing, go ahead and tell them what percentage of your funds are coming in.

But also share about your Greater Need being met in abundance.
